Considering a PS3...

I wasn't in any rush to get a PS3, but I've been considering something lately...

Sony pulled the Emotion Engine from the PAL console. At the same time confirming plans to remove it from the NTSC consoles as well.

Personally, upscaled PS1 and PS2 games being played over HDMI is a major selling point for me. If I don't get one before they pull the Emotion Engine, I'll be pretty pissed. I don't think anyone can debate that cost is the PS3's biggest failing right now. Yeah, developer support is lacking, but why support a machine with poor sales? I can see Sony stripping the chips out before the holiday season just to get the price down a few bucks.

So, I think I'm better off shelling out now and getting the full feature-set and dealing with a lack of games for a few months.

I welcome comments from the few people that actually read my ramblings here. But let it be known, I'm not "jumping ship" from the 360, I still love it, and still think it's the best machine out there at this point in time. But I have an itch to play some of my PS1 games again, and composite cables just don't cut it. That, and there are a few upcoming titles that I'm interested in.
