Well, another person who has been training for YEARS playing EVIL games like the GTA series, and DOOM has gone on a killing spree!
What's it going to take to get these MURDER SIMULATORS banned forever!?
It seems a few times per year, we have mass murders like these, and the killer is ALWAYS influenced by video games!
...Even if we don't know the identity of the killer, or anything about them.
I'm sure nobody will be shocked by the fact that good old JT is blaming video games for the Virginia Tech incident. Just hours after the incident happened, he was on Fox News claiming that it was caused by video games. While this wouldn't be so much an issue on it's own, if people understood what exactly Wacky Jacky is. But people see him as a knowledgeable, informed lawyer. One who can be trusted due to his experience with video game centric cases in the past.
While in reality, he's just an attention whore. Every time someone dies, he automatically blames video games. Of course it's easy to find a connection, there are violent games out there. The vast majority of people in the age groups committing these crimes play video games. They're going to have them in their homes.
Dr. Phil is hopping on the bandwagon too...
Though he makes a valid point, it's buried under the fact that he's trying to blame the games, rather than the individual.“The problem is we are programming these people as a society. You cannot tell me - common sense tells you - that if these people are playing video games where they’re on a mass killing spree in a video game, it’s glamorized on the big screen, it’s become part of the fiber of our society. You take that and mix it with a psychopath, a sociopath, or someone suffering from mental illness, add in a dose of rage, the suggestability is just too high. And we’re going to have to start dealing with that. We’re going to have to start addressing those issues and recognizing that the mass murderers of tomorrow are the children of today that are being programmed with this massive violence overdose.”
Note the bold section, he knows full well the games aren't to blame. He even states this, but feels the need to bury it in order to gain attention. The base of his statement is that crazy people do crazy things. If someone is suffering from mental illness, and decides to go on a murderous rampage while playing a game, the game is not to blame, the illness is.
Movies are much more realistic than video games, and they glamorize far more heinous acts than video games do. Does JT whine about them? Of course not. Does he whine about TV? Music? No, because the video game market is exploding, it's the hot topic right now, what better way to generate attention than attacking the hottest thing going?
EDIT: We have a video.

I love how the news person just kept ignoring all references to gaming that JT made haha Seriously, this guy is getting out of control... training for it on GTA? He tried to claim that because this was premeditated, that he "trained" to do it on GTA. ummmm, I wonder if there's a building JUST like that on one of the GTA games. I HIGHLY doubt it. ugh.
I need to get me a copy of that Counterstrike: Half-Life someday.
