PS3 Power Glove Coming Soon?

A lot of patents are filed just for the sake of having protection in the event that you want to produce something some time in the future. I'm hoping this isn't one of those.

Sony has filed a patent for a "Hand-held computer interactive device" Which seems an awful lot like a more advanced Power Glove. I think, if done right, and with the technology in the PS3, it could potentially be a very interesting device. Especially if coupled with other Sony patents on motion sensing tech.

We could have the most immersive First Person Shooter games imaginable. You could actually hold the gun, go through the motions of reloading, pick up objects with your actual hands, not just the press of a button.

A lot of people will say that they're just further ripping off Nintendo, but the Power Glove was honestly, a piece of crap in execution. To be honest, from what I've experienced of the Wii-mote, I'm not overly impressed with it either. besides, you can't grab things with a remote. This device seems like the next evolution of the Wii-mote. Personally, an evolution I find pretty interesting, despite my general lack of enthusiasm toward current motion-sensing-gameplay.
