Safety Labels...

We have another lawsuit being filed due to bad parenting... This kind of thing just drives me insane, because the first page of EVERY game manual for the past decade is nothing but safety warnings. They're also on the back of the game cases. I Seriously hope this is thrown out of court...

Sure, I feel sorry for the kid, but it's not the fault of Vivendi, Sierra, or Sony that the kid has a health condition, diagnosed or not. Apparently the game was a rental, which would mean it likely came without the case or manual, but even so, that's the fault of the (now defunct) rental place. The fact that they're no longer in business isn't the fault of the defendants. Of course we have the groups that view video games as pure evil under all circumstances, Which are often the old people that are horrible out of touch with reality. So I fully expect this will end in favour of the plaintiff. Though we have had a few cases in recent history where the judges were actually interested in understanding the case before ruling against the evil death companies.

This is no different from the parents that buy M-rated games for their 8 year olds, then get all disgusted about the language or actions they pick up from the game. They then either go back and rant at the store, which in many cases, clearly stated before the purchase that the game is rated M, and intended for people 17 years of age or above. Or they do exactly that the parent in the above link is doing, and sue. But this post is about the seizure suit, I'll do another about ratings ignoring retards and the effect video games have on them later...
